4th PropertyGuru Vietnam Property Awards 2018 announce contenders for biggest competition yet

More than 40 categories to be presented at this year's gala dinner in HCMC.

- CapitaLand leads the nominees list with 16 nods, followed closely by Alpha King with 13

- New recognition for Customer Care, Building Communities, and Public Facility

- KIEN A Corporation founding chair Dr Huynh Ba Lan named 2018 Real Estate Personality

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam - 28 May 2018: Vietnam's finest and most active real estate developers will face each other at the annual PropertyGuru Vietnam Property Awards 2018, presented by Kohler and co-organised by Oriental Media, which released the official shortlist of nominees for its fourth annual edition as chosen by an independent panel of judges.

Leading the shortlist is CapitaLand Vietnam with 16 nominations, more than any company. Following its Best Developer win in 2017, CapitaLand returns with the most citations that include two nods for Best Green Development, as well as for outstanding Condo, Housing, Retail, and Mixed Use Development.

Majority of CapitaLand's nods hail from the company's projects located in Ho Chi Minh City, where it is directly competing in many categories with Alpha King, this year's second-most nominated developer with 13 citations. Alpha King's luxury condo project Alpha City receives six shortlists across the Development and Design categories.

Tied in third place are Gamuda Land and KIEN A Corporation with eight appearances each on the list, including nominations for Best Mid-End Condo Development (Ho Chi Minh City) and Best Affordable Condo Development (Ho Chi Minh City), respectively.

KIEN A Corporation's founding chairman Dr Huynh Ba Lan has also been named recipient of the Vietnam Real Estate Personality of the Year - the sole award not selected by the judging panel, but by editors of PropertyGuru Property Report magazine. Dr Huynh was chosen for leading an organisation that prioritises producing quality projects for lower-income consumers, as well as building schools in Vietnam that follow international standards.

Surpassing the number of awards presented at last year's ceremony, the 2018 programme has 43 categories, including new awards such as Special Recognition for Building Communities, for Design and Construction, for Customer Care, and for Public Facility.

A total of 25 companies have been shortlisted in the competition categories. The prestigious annual competition welcomed returning and new entrants as more world-class projects are launched across the country.

Thien Duong, managing director of Transform Architecture, who serves as third-term chairman of the independent judging panel, commented: "I think there has never been another time in our history where the country is developing at such an accelerated pace," he said.

"Our local property market has continued to grow in every price range from affordable to luxury. The market has matured considerably within a very short period of time due to more competition from more experienced foreign developers as well as local developers maturing and learning industry best practices from their overseas partners."

He added that the PropertyGuru Vietnam Property Awards has become a symbol of a revitalised property sector that encourages high quality construction and development, world-class design and amenities that today's consumers expect.

"Thanks to the profound experience and the influence of foreign developers, who have raised the overall standards of the market, Vietnamese real estate projects have continually been improved in every single offered project," said the head judge.

The exclusive gala dinner on Friday, 22 June 2018 at the InterContinental Saigon Hotel ballroom, is touted as the programme's biggest edition yet. Organisers expect that the black-tie ceremony will be attended by nearly 500 guests and members of the press to honour the achievements of the property sector.

"Whilst Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi continue to be the main engines of the industry, it is encouraging that a provincial location such as Khanh Hoa now has a strong domestic market that developers there can be recognised on an internationally-known platform like the PropertyGuru Vietnam Property Awards."
