official line-up of nominees for the country's most respected real estate
honours, the fourth annual PropertyGuru Myanmar Property Awards, has been
announced today.
Mottama Development Group Co., Ltd. leads the elite shortlist with nine nods. The prolific developer picks up nominations in the categories for Best Condo, Retail, Office and Mixed-Use Development, among others.
Over the last few years, the Mottama group has been very active in launching innovative residential, commercial and niche properties, such as the Myanmar Aquarium, which has been shortlisted for Best Retail Development, and the office project M-Tower, which is competing with another Mottama property for the Best Universal Design Development award.
In addition to the company's nominations, Mottama Holdings' chairman U Yang Ho has been selected as this year's recipient of the 2018 Myanmar Real Estate Personality of the Year, a non-compete award presented by the editors of PropertyGuru Property Report magazine to an individual who has made significant contributions to the country's built environment.
Tied with five nominations each are NAING Group Construction Co,. Ltd and Shwe Gon Development Group Company Limited. Both firms are developing soon-to-be worthy additions to Yangon's evolving urban landscape.
Yoma Strategic Holdings, the first-ever winner of the Best Developer title at the 2015 competition, returns in 2018 with a nomination for Dulwich College Yangon - Star City Campus in the new category for Best Educational Development.
The independent judging panel decided to include the aforementioned category in an effort to further diversify the awards programme and recognise different niche segments. Also making their debut this year are the categories for the Special Recognition in Customer Care and the Special Recognition in Design & Construction.
A total of 11 companies made the shortlist of nominees. The 2018 Winners and Highly Commended awardees will be announced at the black-tie gala dinner at the ballroom of Sedona Yangon, the event's official hotel, on Friday, 10 August. More than 250 industry leaders are expected to grace the exclusive ceremony.
Richard Emerson, managing director of Emerson Real Estate (Myanmar) and returning chairman of the judging panel, says he is pleased to work once again alongside industry specialists who share the same passion and commitment to the progress of the local property sector.
On the growing importance of the Myanmar Property Awards programme, Emerson said: "It certainly provides a great opportunity to give recognition to developers who have striven to push the boundaries in terms of quality, design, and best practices, as well as to applaud their contribution to creating an attractive and sustainable urban landscape for future generations to inhabit and enjoy."

Main winners from Myanmar will later quality to compete for regional honours at the annual PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final to be held in Bangkok, Thailand this November.
