- Agung Sedayu Group sweeps the competition with 17 wins and six commendations
- Recognition for outstanding public facility, mixed-use development and universal design
- More than 250 guests and industry leaders joined the reunion of new and returning winners
JAKARTA, Indonesia - 12
October 2017: A
record number of design and special awards were presented at the PropertyGuru Indonesia
Property Awards 2017, presented by Kohler and supported by the country's
leading property site Rumah.com, held Thursday night (12 October) at the
Fairmont Jakarta.
Best Developer winner Agung Sedayu Group dominated the ceremony, taking home 17 golden trophies, including a Special Recognition for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), in addition to winning six Highly Commended distinctions.
The company's Langham-branded upscale projects in the capital - the luxury condo Langham Residence and the Langham Hotel Jakarta - collected four awards, including Best Condo Development (Indonesia) and Best Hotel Development, while the integrated District 8 development was presented six awards including Best Mixed Use Development and Best Universal Design Development, two new categories this year.
"Agung Sedayu Group takes the lead in redefining Indonesia's urban landscape with its bold innovativeness and expertise in conceptualising and constructing quality condominiums and functional mixed-use spaces such as the District 8 project, which has been designed to accommodate all kinds of visitors regardless of gender, size or age.
"The Group's CSR initiatives also place them above the rest as the company strives to establish better communities for Indonesians," the independent panel of judges said. Overall, Agung Sedayu Group won eight architectural and interior design gongs for its luxury, high-end and mid-range condos, office, hotel, serviced apartment, and landscape projects.
Six-time nominee PT Supermal Karawaci, hailed as the year's Best Boutique Developer, collected four trophies, including three Development and one Design awards, on top of two Highly Commended citations.
It wasn't the first time that the boutique firm's acclaimed U Residence was honoured at the prestigious property tilt. After receiving recognitions in previous editions, U Residence earned two domestic awards in 2017 due to further development and construction. Similarly, FARPOINT's office tower Sequis Tower returned to the winners' list after its 2015 victory in the Best Office Architectural Design category.
PT. Modernland Realty Tbk, recipient of the Best Housing Development (Indonesia) title for Jakarta Garden City (Cluster River Garden), was also among the biggest winners of the evening that was attended by more than 250 senior executives and industry leaders to celebrate excellence in Indonesian real estate in the past year.
A total of 41 winners and 33 Highly Commended distinctions in 37 categories were named this year, including three recipients each of the Special Recognition for Public Facility and Special Recognition in Corporate Headquarter Design. These have been added in 2017 to acknowledge more segments of the rapidly evolving Indonesian property sector.
The event also celebrated the pioneering efforts Sinar Mas Land group CEO Michael Widjaja, who honoured was as the 2017 Indonesia Real Estate Personality of the Year by the editors of PropertyGuru Property Report magazine. A ‘smart digital city' advocate, Widjaja spearheaded the highly commended Knowledge Hub at Digital Hub, BSD City in Tangerang.
With strong contenders in the design, residential and commercial categories, the 2017 edition has been dubbed one of the most exciting awards competitions in the last three years.
Hendra Hartono, CEO of PT Leads Property Services Indonesia and incumbent chairman of the independent panel of judges, applauded the efforts and creativity of local developers during a period of uncertainty. "Despite certain challenges such as economic slowdown, overheated property prices and luxury tax implications, Indonesia's real estate sector continues to produce world-class projects as the Indonesia Property Awards inspire innovation among developers," he said.
Over the last six months, Hartono led the esteemed judging panel of industry experts to determine the year's finest real estate developers and projects, conducting site inspections and deliberating on the strengths of each shortlisted entry. The entire process was supervised by BDO, the world's fifth largest accountancy and auditing firms.
"It's an honour to return to Indonesia to hold our third annual gala dinner. We're delighted to recognise what local developers have accomplished and we applaud their efforts to elevate the standards of the industry," said Terry Blackburn, founder and managing director of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards.
"We're especially proud of the advancement in design and the amount of creativity put in by Indonesian developers across the residential, commercial and public facility segments. From only seven design awards at our inaugural event in 2015 and nine in 2016, this year we gave away 16 awards for outstanding achievement in design, plus a few special awards. We hope this growth continues in our next edition."
The third annual PropertyGuru Indonesia Property Awards 2017 was supported by title sponsor Kohler; co-sponsors Regus and Jotun Indonesia; official portal partner Rumah.com, Indonesia's leading property site; official hotel venue Fairmont Jakarta; media partners Liputan6 and PropertyGuru Property Report, Asia's leading luxury real estate, architecture and design publication; official supplier Interada Prima Lestari; and the awards' official supervisor BDO, the world's fifth largest auditing and accountancy firm led by Indro Tjahjono, partner at BDO Indonesia.
Main domestic winners from Indonesia are now qualified to participate at the seventh annual PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final, an exclusive ceremony for Asia's best developers on 8 November 2017 to be held at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The grand final event will take place concurrently with the two-day PropertyGuru Asia Real Estate Summit on 7-8 November.
