Shimao Group begins work on Eco-City's largest property project

Shimao Property Holdings, a Chinese investment holding company, has just started work on a new property project at the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City. It is considered to be the largest property development in the area to date.

Scheduled to be completed by 2014, the expected investment for the project is more than 10 billion yuan.

This development includes around one million sq m of housing, which will be built with the Green Building Evaluation Standard of Eco-City, and a 300-suite five star hotel.

According to Mr. Hui Wing Mau, Shimao Group president, the project will adopt the principle of "Harmony between Architecture and Environment" and will be built with the best ecological architecture technology.

"We aim to build it into a showcase of a modern environment friendly community in Tianjin," Mr. Hui added.

Shimao is one of the largest real estate developers in Asia. It owns two listed companies, Shimao Stock and Shimao Property.
