GCD, Pantai Group to develop hospital in Malaysia

7 Dec 2010

Global Capital & Development (GCD) has announced a landmark deal with the Pantai Group worth RM500 million, to develop the Gleneagles Medini Hospital in Medini, Iskandar Malaysia.

To be developed across 15 acres of land in Medini North, the hospital is positioned as one of the premium hospitals under Parkway Health.

The 300-bed private tertiary healthcare complex will be completed in phases and will be the 12th hospital by Pantai in the country. The hospital complex will provide a range of tertiary healthcare services supported by a 150-suite medical office block and a centre of excellence. Among the future development plans include a nursing home, a rehabilitation centre, a hospital residency and other healthcare-related buildings.

As part of Parkway Holdings, Pantai’s development is in line with its overall strategy to improve the medical tourism industry in the region, as well as meet the needs of a maturing and growing population in Medini and Iskandar Malaysia.

The hospital will also benefit Singaporean patients who can use their Medisave at the hospital for necessary healthcare services under the programme.

“We are proud to be working with such an established international healthcare provider to bring top quality healthcare to Medini. The high standards set by Pantai align with GCD’s vision to ensure the best in planning, design, management and operational efficiency within Medini. We will work closely with Pantai to develop a world class facility that will put Iskandar Malaysia at the forefront of healthcare in Southeast Asia,” said Keith Martin, chief executive of GCD.
