14 Dec 2010

Guoson Centre, the flagship project of Guocoland China Ltd, the real estate arm of Malaysia’s Hong Leong Group, has won the Best International Mixed-Use Development at the International Property Awards.

The award signifies the transformation of the firm from a single project company to one that develops mega-size integrated development.

Violet Lee, managing director of Guocoland China, said the award is in recognition of their efforts and is proof that China can build quality projects.

Guoson Centre is a fully-integrated development project in Shanghai and Beijing that consists of shopping malls, hotels, high-end residences, office blocks and transportation hubs.

The Guoson Centre has previously won the China and Asia Pacific Property Awards to qualify for consideration at the International Property Awards.

Among the reasons why Guoson Centre won the award was its emphasis on value for the community, said Ms. Lee, who listed eco-friendly features as one of the important features in the company’s development projects.

Ms. Lee also takes pride in the 40,000 sq m sky garden in Guoson Centre, an open-space roof garden providing clients with green recreational space, as well as its mass rapid transit system, which contributes to the livelihood of individuals.

Winning the award has also strengthened the firm’s confidence to work on large-scale, integrated mixed-use developments, said Ms. Lee.
