Beijing to develop 122-storey skyscraper

27 Dec 2010

Beijing is expected to develop a 122-floor skyscraper in the city’s CBD by 2015, making it the highest building in the Chinese capital, according to Xinhua news agency.

Beijing’s newest skyscraper will comprise offices, apartment units and a hotel, as well as four underground levels dedicated to commercial space.

The 500-metre-tall skyscraper is located on a land parcel that was sold for approximately RM2.95 billion (US$948.15 million) in an auction held on December 21.

Currently, Beijing’s tallest skyscraper is China World Trade Centre Tower 3, which stands at 330 metres tall.

The Citic Group, which acquired the land site after winning the auction, plans to develop the skyscraper and call it Zhongguo Zun (Chinese goblet).
