Holland Village to get community park

13 Dec 2010

A community park will be constructed in Holland Village by next year, said a joint statement from the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and the National Parks Board (NParks).

The park will be located next to the Holland Village Circle Line (CCL) station entrance, serving as a new gateway to Holland Village and a green refuge for residents and visitors, the statement said.

The park will offer new features including park furniture and plants which will enhance the park’s identity and character.

A series of low walls will also be built along Holland Avenue to provide some privacy to park users, while night lighting in the park will boost the intimacy of the new public space in the evenings.

The construction of the park is expected to commence in the second quarter of next year. Its development will not affect the number of parking lots in Holland Village as replacement lots provided earlier at the deck car park will continue to operate.

The open tender for the design and construction of the park has been announced in December 1 and it will close on December 22.
