Under the Government Land Sales (GLS) programme, the Singapore government will launch five residential sites for sale through public tender in the first half of 2010, between the months of February and April.
According to the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), another 18 residential sites are on the reserve list of the government apart from the five residential sites already on the confirmed list.
The land from the reserve and confirmed lists are expected to supply a total of 10,550 housing units, the highest in the programme’s history, according to the URA.
The government has more sites in the pipeline to keep private property prices in line and to cater for any surge in demand for private housing.
A 3.2-hectare residential site located at the junction of Tampines Avenue 1 and Avenue 10 is the latest site to be put up for public tender.
