OUB Centre Ltd announces major new tenant for One Raffles Place

15 Apr 2010

OUB Centre Limited has announced the signing of a lease agreement that will see Synergyinthesky Pte Ltd as a major new tenant to operate its viewing gallery, as well as Singapore’s highest rooftop restaurant and bar at its One Raffles Place commercial tower.

The 10-year tenancy will see the taking over of around 16,000 sq ft of commercial space on the tower’s top three levels, 282 metres above the ground. Further details on the concept of the viewing gallery and restaurant will be revealed at a later date.

“The tenancy and our investment in the development of One Raffles Place is testament of our confidence towards Singapore’s economy. The signing of this major new tenant is yet another milestone for us as we continue our efforts in growing the business alongside Singapore’s robust property market and the prospects it presents for us. After all, One Raffles Place is a long-term investment for us," said Mr. Henry Kok Moo Yong, General Manager of OUB Centre Limited.

The S$540-million investment in One Raffles Place is part of a renewal of the Raffles Place area, where other property developers have been investing in new projects intended to enhance the quality and attractiveness of the district.

Tower One’s viewing gallery, together with the upcoming Tower Two, a commercial tower, and retail mall will form the new One Raffles Place development. One Raffles Place will offer more than 860,000 sq ft of Prime Grade A office, retail and entertainment space upon the completion of Tower Two in 2011.

In 2008, the name of the iconic OUB Centre was changed to One Raffles Place – a name that was built from the tower’s strong heritage in the Raffles Place business district and a reflection of the physical address of the building. This new identity also signals a new era for the development with its viewing gallery and upcoming Tower Two.

“Being in the heart of Singapore’s business district, we believe in adding vibrancy to the area. With the opening of the viewing gallery and restaurant, residents and visitors will have access to entertainment, shopping and dining options, both in the day and at night. The new One Raffles Place will indeed be more than just an office location,” added Mr. Kok.
