Ascott Limited, a wholly-owned service residence business unit of CapitaLand, has won contracts to manage two properties, one each in Shenzhen and Xi’an.
It follows the company’s recent expansion into Chengdu after the opening of Somerset Riverview, Chengdu in April.
The latest additions, Somerset Gaoxin in Xi’an and Somerset Grandview in Shenzhen, are expected to be completed in 2012 and 2013, respectively.
Lee Chee Koon, managing director for North Asia at Ascott, said: "China is an important market for Ascott."
"Besides growing in cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, we have been expanding rapidly in other cities like Xi’an and Shenzhen where there is high demand for service residences."
Ascott’s Somerset Garden City, Shenzhen and Citadines Xi’an Central have already achieved more than 80 percent occupancy rate.
It will open Ascott Maillen Shenzhen later this year and two additional Citadines-branded service residences in Xi’an in 2012.
The two new Somerset-branded properties will raise Ascott’s portfolio to over 5,500 apartments in 29 properties across 13 cities.
The 233-unit Somerset Gaoxin, Xi’an – the company’s first Somerset-branded service residence in the city – is situated on Tang Yan Road within the Xi’an Hi-tech Development Zone.
The 128-unit Somerset Grandview, Shenzhen, on the other hand, is located in Xinsha Road, close to the Futian Central Business District. It is next to Shenzhen Golf and Country Club, and near to shopping malls, high-end office towers, and food and beverage outlets.
The two developments will offer various apartment units ranging from studio type to three-bedroom units, providing the needs of both short- and long-stay travellers.
All apartment units come with an ensuite bathroom, fully equipped kitchen and separate work and living areas.
