The Ministry of National Development (MND) has announced that the government will continue to ensure that there is adequate supply of housing in the country to meet demand.
In the H2 2010 Government Land Sales (GLS) Programme, the MND has made available land sites that can yield 13,900 private housing units, and 8,100 of these units will be coming from sites on the Confirmed List – the highest potential supply quantum in the history of the programme.
There are 61,800 uncompleted private housing units from projects in the pipeline as of Q2 this year, and about 32,600 units were available or could be made available for sale.
These include units that had been released for sale by property developers, units that had pre-requisite conditions for sale and which could be immediately released for sale, and units with planning approvals for which pre-requisite conditions for sale could be obtained quickly from the Government.
The Singapore government will continue to monitor the property market, and will introduce further measures if needed, to promote a stable and sustainable property market in the country.
