Local construction and specialist engineering firm BBR Holdings has secured a contract from the Housing and Development Board (HDB) to develop 1,386 new homes in Pasir Ris Neighbourhood 5 for S$179 million.
Clinched through its subsidiary Singapore Piling & Civil Engineering, the contract effectively brings the group’s order book to S$662 million. The latest deal comprises work on 17 13-storey blocks, with construction expected to commence this month and to be completed in June 2014.
The contract also includes the construction of a multi-storey car park, childcare centre, supermarket and shophouses.
Meanwhile, the precinct pavilion, shelter, pergola and civil engineering works comprise the development’s hardscape and landscape works.
This is BBR’s second contract with the HDB, having previously secured a S$104.2 million contract in August 2009. Comprising seven blocks of flats (864 homes) in Yishun Neighbourhood 4, that project will likely be completed in 2012.
“BBR has a wide range of experience in construction, and we are involved in commercial buildings, condominiums, infrastructural projects, even restoration of buildings. But the common denominator is our approach. We assess each project individually, and bring our expertise to bear on each one of them,” said Andrew Tan, CEO of BBR Group.
