The Housing & Development Board (HDB) has officially unveiled its first roadmap for better living in HDB towns, which is focused on three major aspects: sustainable, well-designed and community-centric towns.
Speaking at the Housing Board Awards 2011 at Marina Bay Sands yesterday, HDB CEO, Dr Cheong Koon Hean, said the roadmap charts the HDB’s professional focus over the next five to 10 years to provide an improved living environment and meet the changing needs and aspirations of all residents.
“Some are low-income families who want a basic roof over their heads. Others are middle income families who want a better living environment. At the same time, we face the prospects of an ageing population,” said Dr Cheong.
While meeting these needs, she acknowledged that affordability and quality cannot be compromised.
Meanwhile, National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan bestowed 15 awards to HDB contractors and consultants for excellent performance and innovation in constructing new flats.
