CapitaLand, Southeast Asia’s largest real estate company, clinched 10 Building and Construction Authority (BCA) awards this year, recognising its properties’ green features, construction excellence and design and engineering safety.
Included in this year’s award-winning projects is the much anticipated JCube shopping mall in Jurong, which has been conferred the Green Mark Platinum award, Singapore’s highest accolade for green building certification.
Owned by CapitaMall Trust, the eco-friendly mall is slated to be completed in Q4 this year and will house Singapore’s only Olympic-sized ice rink. It will be fitted with green features such as a rainwater harvesting tank and a grey-water recycling system.
Three projects also clinched the Green Mark GoldPLUS awards — CapitaLand Institute of Management and Business (CLIMB), One George Street and The Nassim. The company’s learning and development hub at Sentosa became the first conservation building in Singapore to be awarded the Green Mark GoldPLUS, while Ascott Raffles Place Singapore, ION Orchard and The Orchard Residences clinched the Design and Engineering Safety Excellence Award.
Meanwhile, The Metropolitan Condominium, a joint venture (JV) project between CapitaLand and Lippo Group, obtained the Construction Excellence Award. Other properties awarded with Green Mark Gold awards include Bugis Junction, Raffles City Singapore and The Atrium@Orchard (retail).
“Over the years, many of our residential, commercial, shopping mall, serviced residence and integrated properties have won local and international awards for their quality and environment-friendly designs and features, as well as for energy efficiency,” said Wong Hooe Wai, Chairman of the CapitaLand Green Committee.
“To further our long-term commitment to environmental sustainability, CapitaLand has set a goal to achieve at least BCA Green Mark GoldPLUS status for all Singapore projects initiated from 2011 onwards.”
Since the launch of BCA’s Green Mark Awards in 2005, CapitaLand has won 39 BCA Green Mark Awards for 33 properties in Singapore, encouraging the group to implement a minimum Green Mark GoldPLUS standard for all its Singapore projects initiated in 2011 and beyond.
