Spotlight on green buildings

10 May 2011

The 2011 Singapore Green Building Week (SGBW) aims to be more extensive and provide greater breadth and depth of discussion among industry practitioners in the region.

Organised by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), the yearly event will be held in conjunction with the second International Green Building Conference (IGBC) and the Build Eco Xpo Asia (BEX Asia).

“This year’s SGBW will be an even more extensive platform for government officials, decision-makers and green practitioners from all over the world to discuss the key issues on sustainability of built environment and the solutions,” said John Keung, Chief Executive Officer of BCA.

Anchored on the theme “Build Green. Act Now,” this year’s IGBC calls for the building industry to create more sustainable built environments.

Meanwhile, IGBC will host the second Green Building Workshops in Singapore as a continuation of the previous workshops conducted in Washington DC.

IGBC will also work with six major local and international partners, including the American Society of Civil Engineers and the China Green Building Council, to organise an international meeting and symposiums about green building.

On the other hand, BEX Asia, the annual convention exhibiting the latest green building materials, designs and technologies, will have a new green infrastructure segment that will showcase the benefits of a green building.

SGBW will be held from 13 to 16 September 2011 at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre. In addition, the BCA Green Building Exhibition will be held from 22 to 25 September at VivoCity, to educate the public about the green building movement.
