Tiong Seng subsidiary to expand green technology in Asia Pacific

8 Jun 2011

Cobiax Technologies AG, a majority-owned subsidiary of Tiong Seng Holdings Ltd, has established a wholly-owned unit, Cobiax Technologies (Asia) Ltd, to expand its cutting-edge green construction technology in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region.

Cobiax’s new green technology will remove the unnecessary deadweight of concrete slabs by positioning void formers within, thus reducing concrete volume by up to 30 percent without modifying its flexural strength. This will allow architects to design larger and clearer span structures, where the distance between columns can be up to 20 m.

“Asia’s pledge on emissions reduction forms the foundation that leads to increasing demand for green solutions. We take pride in playing our role for the environment with Cobiax, which is an innovative and effective solution that supports the global call for action to combat climate change,” said Michael Stuecklin, Managing Director of Cobiax Asia.

Through its Singapore-based unit, Cobiax AG plans to replicate Cobiax’s success in Singapore and in the Asia Pacific region. Cobiax Asia will handle both sales and technical support for customers and projects across the Asia Pacific region.

“Given our track record in Europe, we are looking forward to replicating this success in the Asia Pacific,” said Mr. Stuecklin.
