Singapore is the most popular Asian destination for finance professionals seeking overseas experience, according to a recent survey conducted by eFinancialCareers in May and June 2011.
George McFerran, Head of Asia Pacific at eFinancialCareers, said the survey, which covered 3,019 finance professionals in the Asia Pacific region, showed “the level of intra-Asian mobility in financial markets” and Asia as “the top destination for expanding career horizons within the sector”.
Nearly 68 percent of the respondents identified Asia Pacific as presenting the most job opportunities. Garnering 18 percent of the votes, Singapore was ranked the most sought-after destination for relocation, followed closely by Hong Kong at 14 percent and London at 12 percent.
“Given the opportunities on our doorstep, there really is no excuse for Asian finance professionals not to have international experience on their resume,” said Mr. McFerran.
“In today’s highly mobile environment, staying at home is no longer an option.”
Meanwhile, the survey also revealed that 88 percent of the finance professionals polled believe overseas experience is crucial to their career, while 91 percent would consider taking a role abroad.
