Unilever, an international consumer goods conglomerate, is preparing to further its Asian expansion with the groundbreaking of its global leadership training centre in Singapore.

Aside from developing global talent, the facility is also meant to contribute considerably to the company’s goal of doubling its revenue while mitigating its environmental impact by 2020, according to Unilever.

It added that the company will be allotting S$32 million into the Unilever Four Acres Singapore training centre, which will occupy 22,750 sq m of land at One North.

“The investment in Unilever Four Acres Singapore also reflects our long-term commitment to Singapore in its ambition to become a ‘Home for Talent’ and a centre for excellence in global leadership development,” said Harish Manwani, President of Unilever for Asia, Africa and central and eastern Europe.

EDB Chairman Leo Yip argued that the latest facility will serve as a testament to the position of “Singapore as a Global-Asia talent hub for companies to access, develop and deploy global leaders with pan-Asian perspectives.”

Meanwhile, Ascendas Real Estate Investment Trust has secured the contract to develop Unilever Four Acres Singapore.
