The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and Singapore Land Authority (SLA) have announced their plans for the railway land formerly occupied by Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM).
The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) will start the removal of tracks and ancillary structures of KTM railway, as well as conduct maintenance works around the different railway sites.
The whole line of railway tracks will be open to the public from 1 July to 17 July 2011, except for some localised areas.
Meanwhile, minor works will be performed at the Bukit Timah Railway Station and railway crossings at Sungei Kadut Avenue, Kranji Road, Stagmont Ring, Choa Chu Kang Road and Gombak Drive.
In the meantime, the URA will review and chart the development plans for the previous railway lands and their surrounding areas.
As part of its review, the URA will study the possibility of combining development and greenery, including the application of innovative strategies to maintain a continuous green link along the rail corridor without affecting the lands’ development potential.
The URA also welcomes ideas and feedback from the community in shaping future development plans for the railway lands.
