CapitaLand announced that its Green for Hope campaign has raised S$700,000 to help underprivileged children across the country through the five Community Development Councils (CDCs) in Singapore.
Launched in 2010, Green for Hope @ CapitaLand is part of the company’s Green for Hope project, a creative recycling campaign which combines green efforts with philanthropy. CapitaLand’s tenants, serviced residence guests and shoppers, as well as young students, are encouraged to go green by recycling and in doing so, earn donations from CapitaLand Hope Foundation to benefit underprivileged children.
“The Green for Hope project is in line with CapitaLand Hope Foundation’s focus on supporting programmes for the shelter, education and healthcare needs of underprivileged children in Singapore and overseas,” said Liew Mun Leong, President & Chief Executive of CapitaLand Group.
This year, the company has collected a total of 862,480 kg of recyclable waste from 24 participating CapitaLand properties. The company donated S$2 for every kilogramme of recyclable waste collected from 1 January to 30 June 2011.
CapitaLand properties in the Southeast cluster emerged top with 224,503 kg of recyclable waste collected and received S$170,000, plus an additional S$50,000 donation, from CapitaLand’s philanthropic arm, CapitaLand Hope Foundation.
“The CapitaLand Green for Hope campaign is a very meaningful effort that has been effective in promoting recycling and contributing to worthy causes such as assisting needy students and underprivileged children. Waste minimisation and recycling enable us to boost resource efficiency and transform waste into resource. I would like to congratulate CapitaLand for their commendable efforts,” noted Andrew Tan, Chief Executive of the National Environment Agency.
