The National Parks Board (NParks) has announced that the areas underneath expressway viaducts and MRT tracks may be transformed into recreational spaces in the future.
Citing the MRT idea as an example, NParks is encouraging the public to provide suggestions and ideas on how to improve green spaces.
Speaking at the National Day Rally 2011, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong touched on “building to keep Singapore special and exceptional.”
“We’re going to have parks and gardens in the heartlands. And we’ll link them all up to create a City in a Garden,” he said.
Thus, the www.nparks.gov.sg/ciag website was created on 22 August to gather suggestions from the public. The public can also submit their ideas at a roving exhibit that will visit schools, parks and housing estates.
NParks also encourages the public to participate on its Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/NParksBuzz.
