In a bid to support the growing demand for dual-key homes, property developer Frasers Centrepoint has launched Trio by Frasers, a new brand of dual-key units with three major uses – as a home office, for multi-generational living and leasing out.
The units offer many advantages over a typical home, including flexibility to house an extended family, whereby grandparents can occupy the same home but their living areas will have a separate entrance, noted The Straits Times.
The Trio brand will also focus on developing and marketing the dual-key concept. Such units started coming into the market in 2009, when Frasers launched 8@Woodleigh and Caspian at Lakeside. Other recent projects with similar units include the executive condominium (EC) projects 1 Canberra and River Isles.
According to analysts, dual-key units cost about five percent more compared to conventional homes. In general, the studio apartments are attached to one- or up to five-bedroom units.
Cheang Kok Kheong, Chief Executive of Frasers Centrepoint Homes, said they wanted to generate a sense of ownership for the concept which they pioneered.
“It positions us as the leader in this new and growing market segment and signifies our commitment to further developing the market.”
Since 2009, over 1,000 dual-key units have been launched in Singapore and developers could unveil around 1,000 such units every year. For instance, 20 percent of units in an upcoming condominium in Tampines will be dual-key ones.
Meanwhile, MCC Land (Singapore) decided to convert 47 condo units at 1 Canberra into dual-key homes.
