Two real estate agents from GPS Alliance who also happen to be a married couple, have set up a unique F&B outlet that also functions as a one-stop property advice centre, reported The Straits Times.
Located in Serangoon Gardens, Bricks & Brew features waiters who are also property agents wearing t-shirts embossed with the GPS Alliance name – who serve coffee but also advise customers on real estate deals.
Customers can browse through folders of homes for sale in the area and even get renovation quotations. They can also ask for a ride to view a property that they like.
Interestingly, the amount paid for the coffee goes to charity and customers can pay as much as they want.
“We want to change the image of an industry known for being pushy and all sell, sell, sell,” said 34-year old co-owner Jasmine Lim.
“But if customers don’t ask us any property questions, we won’t approach them to talk about property,” she added.
Set up in February this year, the eatery attracts around 1,100 customers a month, with some 60 percent being regular patrons. The rest are clients or walk-ins looking for buying or renovation advice in the area.
In addition, Lim has several experts on call, namely bankers, architects and lawyers with offices in the area who will drop by if someone needs advice, a free quotation or site drawing.
“The experts give free advice and we don’t charge them for referral fees. It’s up to customers if they eventually want to hire them,” Lim said.
