Donald Han, Vice Chairman for Cushman & Wakefield’s Singapore operations, has joined HSR Property Group as special adviser, with the aim of helping to expand the company’s property services and portfolio by venturing overseas.
“We could expand into other professional property services, such as valuation, property management and commercial, industrial and even retail agency,” he said. “My second goal is to help expand HSR’s footprint in the region, by taking it to places such as Malaysia, Australia and Vietnam.”
The 47-year-old spent nearly 15 years at Cushman & Wakefield and was named vice-chairman of its Singapore operations in November 2010.
At HSR, Han will help diversify and enlarge the company’s portfolio, with at least 80 percent of its total revenue coming from the residential sector and comprising the sales and rentals of both HDB flats and private homes.
HSR Property Group, which was established in 1981 by Callie Liew, the group’s Founding Director and Chief Operating Officer, is now led by her husband Patrick Liew.
“I’ve known HSR founder Callie Liew for some time now and she has successfully built HSR into one of the biggest homegrown property agencies. It has about 2,000 agents and is predominantly known for its residential expertise,” said Han.
Meanwhile, Liew said having Han on board represents a new chapter for the firm. “We have been reserving lots of ‘dry gun powder’ to capitalise on the expansion process, and the timing is now ripe.”
“The impending economic slowdown presents new opportunities for us. As other companies seek to rationalise costs, we on the other hand are hoping to hire the best talent and provide them with a more secure footing, and to capitalise on new markets and businesses.”
