Sky Habitat units snapped up at weekend launch

CapitaLand’s Sky Habitat, a huge 99-year leasehold condo development designed by world-renowned architect Moshe Safdie, has seen strong public response with 125 units snapped up as of 6pm yesterday.

Located at Bishan Central, units were sold at an average price of S$1,747 psf and S$1,642 psf for one-bedders and four-bedders respectively.

“The price is certainly on the higher end and is currently the most expensive in suburban Singapore,” said Tejaswi Chunduri, Regional Analyst at PropertyGuru. “This might lead to price increases in other new projects,” she added.

CapitaLand noted that 81 percent of the 125 units sold were two- and three-bedroom units. Of the project’s 509 units, 180 have been released.

According to Wong Heang Fine, CEO of CapitaLand Residential Singapore, 83 percent of buyers were Singaporeans who purchased units for their families to live in.

“All agree that the location – proximity to Bishan MRT and bus interchange, Junction 8 shopping mall and good schools – is hard to beat,” he said.

Chunduri agreed, noting that the project’s design and architecture are also key features.

The two 38-storey towers were designed to create a three-dimensional matrix of homes, public gardens, private terraces and three sky bridges.

“Coupled with its bold and unique design that combines the best of landed and condo living, Sky Habitat looks set to become a collectible in Singapore’s property market, just like Moshe Safdie’s visionary Habitat ‘67 project in Montreal, Canada. Sky Habitat is truly a Habitat of the Future – an iconic home with lasting value where families can grow, for now and into the next generation,” said Wong.

Meanwhile, Sky Habitat’s show gallery (pictured) opened its doors at 9am last Saturday to prospective buyers who had pre-registered with Knight Frank and ERA, while the general public was able to view it after 2pm.

To reward those buyers who endorsed and showed faith in Sky Habitat, the developer offered a three percent discount off the selling price. In addition, existing owners of CapitaLand homes received a further one percent loyalty discount and if the buyer currently lives in Bishan, an additional one percent discount was offered.
