With strong competition in the market, three condo developments in Kuala Lumpur are in the race to be the first project offering a beach pool.

Bukit Kiara Properties (BKP) has previously promoted its facility as the Versilica Sky Beach (pictured) because the beach pool is sited on the 37th floor of Vox, the project’s fourth and last tower.

Two other developers – UOA Development Bhd and Sunway Group are also building beach pools at their Le Yuan Residence and LaCosta developments respectively.

“All three are now under construction, and everyone is seeing who will complete first. We can build faster because we have in-house construction people to do it,” said David Khor, Chief Operating Officer of Development at UOA Group.

But some market watchers feel Sunway will win the race, given its experience in constructing theme parks and surf pools.

As for BKP, the construction of the beach pool was backed by a careful feasibility study. The sandy beach, which will cover 370 sq m, will be located next to a lap pool and is likely to be completed by the end of this year. The top two floors of the tower will also have a jet pool, terrace, bar and garden.

Called Verve Suites, the project comprises of four towers with “lifestyle-focused concept” lounge areas. Units in the remaining tower are being sold at an average of RM1,225 (S$500) psf.

Meanwhile, UOA’s Le Yuan Residence and Sunway’s LaCosta are priced from RM499 psf (S$203 psf) and RM600-plus psf (S$244 psf) respectively.
