Around 8,900 HDB flats were sold between 2008 and 2011 as a result of divorces, according to Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan.
Khaw said this in response to queries from Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap regarding the number of HDB matrimonial homes sold as a result of divorce.
Khaw also said that the housing agency received a total of 4,250 appeals for HDB rental flats from divorcees with custody of their children.
He noted that around 40 percent of the appeals were approved while “the others were rejected as they had other housing options.”
