The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) has tied up with the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) to exercise joint efforts in the land use and urban planning sector.

Under a newly-signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the two government bodies agreed to engage in mutual visits, staff exchanges and training courses, which are expected to strengthen the sharing of ideas, experiences and best practices in urban planning and development.

Singapore’s private companies will also get the chance to share and network with key stakeholders of Abu Dhabi’s planning and development industry.

Ng Lang, Chief Executive Office of the URA and H.E Falah Al Ahbabi, General Manager at the UPC, signed the MOU during the 6th Abu Dhabi Singapore Joint Forum held in Abu Dhabi from 6 to 7 May 2012.

“The MOU provides a framework for URA and UPC to exchange views and experiences in urban planning to enhance each other’s planning expertise. It will deepen the relationship between URA and UPC and strengthen ties between Abu Dhabi and Singapore,” said Ng Lang.

H.E Falah Al Ahbabi added: “The exchange of knowledge and best practices is key to developing benchmark urban cities sustainable for the next generation. The MOU signed today will give us the opportunity to conduct in-depth studies and research on urban development strategy.”

In February, the UPC paid an official visit to the URA, which the latter reciprocated recently.
