Entire estate under the hammer

By Andrew Batt:

Property buyers will get the chance to buy land and 14 houses at an auction in Ireland next month – with the starting price set at just S$80,000.

The land and houses are located in the village of Castlemaine, Country Kerry, in the Republic of Ireland, in an area which has been struggling economically for a number of years.

The entire estate (pictured), a so-called ‘Ghost Estate’ due to a lack of inhabitants and the fact that the 14 properties have not been completed, will be auctioned by Allsop Space on July 6.

This is believed to be the first time that an entire Irish estate has come under the hammer.
