Sotheby’s Japan has listed an apartment worth a staggering 1.8 billion yen (S$27.6 million), possibly the most expensive one-bedroom condo in the world.

The unit is located at “The House Minami Azabu”, one of the most luxurious condo complexes in the Minamiazabu district, Minato-ku, Tokyo.

Considered the home of Japanese tycoons and celebrities, apartments in the area were sold for as much as 1.27 billion yen (S$20.18 million) in the past.

Recent listings show that a 412 sq m penthouse on the 10th floor of the apartment building is going on sale for 1.8 billion yen.

Comparatively, a condo unit of the same size is sold for US$1.982 million (S$1.265 million) on average, according to the Land Institute of Japan.

The luxurious apartment features rare furniture and art pieces imported from around the world. Interiors are traditionally-inspired but also blend modern characteristics such as an open-concept dining and kitchen area that resembles a conventional Japanese dining room.

In addition, the property comes with facilities like a Jacuzzi bath, walk-in wardrobe, spacious storage space hidden behind long hallways and an outdoor courtyard garden.
