The Securities Investors Association (Singapore) or SIAS has recognised CapitaLand for its excellence in transparency and corporate governance at the recent SIAS Investors’ Choice Awards 2013.

SIAS is Asia’s largest organised investor lobby group that actively promotes investor education, corporate governance and transparency.

Winning a total of six awards, CapitaLand nabbed the Most Transparent Company Award (Real Estate) for the 13th consecutive year as well as the prestigious Golden Circle Award for the second year in a row.

The Most Transparent Company Award takes into account disclosure and transparency based on publicly available information and the company’s performance, while the Golden Circle Award is the highest honour given to the Overall Most Transparent Company across industry sectors.

CapitaLand and its shopping mall business CapitaMalls Asia received Merit Awards under the Singapore Corporate Governance Award (Big Capitalisation), while CapitaMall Trust received the Singapore Corporate Governance Award and Most Transparent Company Award in the REITs & Business Trusts category.

The Singapore Corporate Governance Award recognises companies with good corporate governance practices and shareholder interests based on OECD standards, the Singapore Corporate Governance Code and shareholder confidence.

At the same time, Ascendas Real Estate Investment Trust (A-REIT) was awarded the Most Transparent Company Award in the REITs and Business Trusts category for the third consecutive year.

The trust was also runner-up winner of the Singapore Corporate Governance Award in the same category, while Ascendas India Trust (a-iTrust) was a Merit winner for the Singapore Corporate Governance Award in the REITs and Business Trusts category for the second consecutive year.
