Sites for 11,600 new homes revealed

18 Dec 2013

Eight ‘Confirmed List’ sites and 15 ‘Reserve List’ sites will be launched under the Government Land Sales (GLS) Programme for the first half of 2014 (1H2014), the Ministry of National Development (MND) has announced.

The government said that these sites could potentially yield a collective sum of up to 11,600 private residential units, including 2,800 executive condominium (EC) units, and 2,077,434 sq ft gross floor area (GFA) of commercial space.

Specifically, the ‘Confirmed List’ comprises seven private residential sites, including four EC sites and one mixed-use site. These sites can yield about 4,600 private residential units and 53,819 sq ft GFA of commercial space.

The sites on the ‘Confirmed List’ are located in the Outside Central Region (OCR) or Rest of Central Region (RCR), the release noted.

Meanwhile, the ‘Reserve List’ contains 13 private residential sites, including one EC site, one commercial site and one ‘White’ site, which can yield about 7,000 private homes and 2,023,615 sq ft GFA of commercial space.

According to the MND, the supply from the GLS programme, together with the large supply from the projects in the pipeline, is “expected to be adequate to meet the demand for private housing and commercial space over the next few years.”
