Global Capital & Development (GCD), the lead investor in Medini, Iskandar Malaysia has signed an investment deal worth S$1 billion with Singapore developer Link (THM) Holdings to build the Media Village @ Medini Iskandar.

Sited on a 5.9ha plot, the development will support the creative industries of Pinewood Studios, a US$150 million (S$185.8 million) integrated media production studio facility opening later this year that could create more than 3,000 jobs.

Once completed, there will be more than 2,000 SOHO units and business suites of 1.2 million sq ft of net saleable area, while the commercial properties consisting of mainly food and beverage outlets will take up 1.1 million sq ft of net lettable area.

"Link (THM)’s development of Media Village @ Medini Iskandar provides a catalyst for further business activity in Medini and complements the upcoming Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios. Together with Singapore’s Mediapolis, we see a ‘blended solution’ where the full value chain of media services from script to final production is offered all within an hour’s drive of each other. GCD looks forward to fruition Link (THM)’s plan to create business clusters and to kick-start this new destination for the production for film entertainment in Asia," said Keith Martin, CEO of GCD.

Media Village @ Medini Iskandar is just minutes away from Legoland and EduCity, and is a 10-minute drive from Tuas Checkpoint in Singapore.
