A 65 acre island (pictured) off the coast of Ireland has been sold for over €2.85 million (S$4.75 million), according to marketing agent Knight Frank.
Called Inish Turk Beg or “Small Island of the Wild Boar”, it is one of the largest islands in Clew Bay and features five modern residential properties designed by London architect Andrew Wright Associates.
The main residence is a contemporary six-bedroom, two-storey house with spacious reception rooms and a music hall. The island also offers leisure facilities, a working farm, craft house, boat house, orchards and a pier.
The island was previously owned by Egyptian-Irish businessman Nadim Sadek who bought the property for €1 million (S$1.66 million) in 2003. He spent €9 million (S$14.9 million) to convert the site into a lavish destination, adding electricity and water mains.
Numerous overseas buyers showed keen interest for the island and it was sold after four months to Joanne Margossian who’s based in the UK and US. She will likely settle on the island later this year and it will become her family’s residence.
The sale also included a cottage on the mainland located by a floating jetty at Rosstoughy Harbour. Nestled on a 25 acre site overlooking the harbour, the four-bedroom cottage comes with a newly constructed barn and extensive stables.
