A team from the National University of Singapore (NUS) has emerged as champions of the second BCA-CDL Green Sparks Competition held recently at BCA Academy.
An initiative by BCA and green developer CDL, the competition was organised to challenge tertiary students to come up with a revolutionary green show suite.
"The Greenworks" beat a total of 23 teams from five tertiary institutions including NUS, Nanyang Technological University, Republic Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic.
Participants were required to submit a proposal for the green show suite taking into consideration factors such as functionality, passive and active design, occupants’ comfort and cost effectiveness.
“The champion team’s concept, ‘The Greenswitz’, had workable solutions that combined traditional architectural practice, functionality and contemporary ideas. It’s not easy to achieve as it requires a high level of competency and a well thought out process,” said Singapore Green Building Council President and chief judge Tai Lee Siang.
“The next generation is poised to infuse the building sector with lots of green passion and vision – something that will lead becoming one of the greenest cities in the world.”
