A new chapter called The Real Estate Professionals Chapter, which forms part of the Singapore Industrial and Services Employees’ Union, was launched yesterday to look after the needs of property agents and boost professionalism in the industry, The Straits Times reported.

It was announced that the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) will provide S$20,000 in pilot funding that will be used to offset agent training costs.

With a small fee of S$117 a year, agents can join the chapter and will enjoy a 50 percent subsidy on courses like those on the advertising guidelines and new policies.

About 200 of the 30,000 registered agents in Singapore are expected to benefit from the chapter.
