A four-bedroom house in Queensland not only has a unique ‘triangular’ appearance, but it also comes with its own helicopter hangar (pictured).
Designed by Sunshine Coast designer Chris Clout, the Airlie Beach house is ironically located in Aviation Estate, the site of an old airport, media reports said.
With its striking design, it was no surprise that the home was recognised as the best new home over 450 sq m and best use of engineered timber at the recent Queensland Building Design of the Year awards.
But the top award – Building Design of the Year – was awarded to Scott Falconer from Aboda Design Group, with his quirky design of a Coolum Beach family home.
Despite its unconventional appearance, judges praised the property’s design which “captures a refined and elegant beach lifestyle without being the typical beach house”.
