EXCLUSIVE: What is believed to be one of the first Singapore property exhibitions in Myanmar took place last weekend, when three Wing Tai Singapore condominium projects were showcased in Yangon by the ERA real estate agency.
The event featured three Singapore properties – L’Viv, Foresque and Helios Residences.
Tony Picon, Managing Director Myanmar for Colliers International, speaking exclusively to PropertyGuru, said: “Overseas property exhibitions such as this are still quite rare in Myanmar.”
“People here are certainly buying more overseas properties, especially in Singapore and Bangkok as lifestyle purchases, and in London as an investment.”
Colliers is the first global real estate services firm to enter the Myanmar real estate market.
Piers Brunner, Chief Executive Officer, Asia, Colliers International, said: “We see huge potential in the country, with many of our clients seeking new opportunities in what is arguably the last major frontier market in the region. It’s important for us to have the operation in place in order to assist our clients as they expand their business or real estate portfolio in Myanmar.”
“Tony was previously Head of Research at Colliers Thailand, but due to growing demand for consultancy and brokerage services, he began to focus on Myanmar real estate two years ago. Tony moved to Yangon in 2012. He has the knowledge and expertise to help our clients understand the country’s increasingly complex property market,” added Brunner.
Singapore real estate agency ERA and developer Wing Tai were contacted but were unable to provide comment for this story prior to publication.
