Singapore Green Building Week 2013 (SGBW) kicked off yesterday at Marina Bay Sands.
This year’s programme brings together two of the industry’s most prestigious events – the International Green Building Conference (IGBC) and BEX Asia.
Into its fifth year, SGBW managed to attract more than 10,000 participants from over 35 countries. It provides a platform for building experts and industry players to meet and collaborate on future green building solutions.
Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority (BCA) will
take this opportunity to provide details of its latest masterplan on
making the city-state a global leader in green buildings.
Yesterday’s opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean.
In his speech, Mr Teo said: “Today, climate change presents a new set
of challenges for the world, including extreme weather patterns, more
severe natural disasters, and rising sea levels.”
“The magnitude
and complexity of the issues posed by climate change require a
multi-disciplinary response… These events will enable participants to
exchange views on a range of engineering topics, with a specific
emphasis on climate change.”
Organised
by BCA in partnership with Reed Exhibitions and the Singapore Green
Building Council (SGBC), the event runs till tomorrow (13
September).
