Dog owners in one United States condominium face being fined up to US$1,000 (S$1,253) if they fail to scoop the poop.
The Grande at Riverdale, an eight-storey four building development in northern New Jersey, will be using DNA testing to identify errant dog owners.
They will face a US$250 (S$313) fine for a first offence, and will also be fined US$100 (S$125) if they fail to have their pets tested by November 1.
Earlier this year Devon Wood, a 398-unit condominium development in Massachusetts, introduced similar tests that have seen a 90 percent reduction in unscooped dog mess.
