Investor demand at all-time high

27 Sep 2013

The western English town of Exeter will be in the Singapore spotlight this weekend as the focus of the latest student accommodation property investment opportunity to be exhibited in the city-state.

The studios and two-bedroom apartments that are available from Vita Student, one of the U.K.’s leading providers of luxury student accommodation, are part of a 161-unit development in Exeter that is specifically designed to appeal to students with its high-quality finish and central location. Investors can purchase the properties from £77,950 (S$157,000).

The new development, called Portland House, is due to be completed in time for the 2014/15 academic year. Students will benefit from fitted kitchens, en-suite bathrooms and a space-saving foldable double bed with integrated sofa. The apartments also include free high-speed 100MB broadband, Wi-Fi and a flat screen smart TV, as well as access to communal areas such as a study hub and leisure facilities.

Vita Student’s Head of Business Development Asia Pacific, Justin Humphreys, said: “Investor requirement for student property is at an all-time high, and our developments cater for a gap in the market for luxury accommodation.”

“The rate at which all our previous projects have sold demonstrates that our model is successfully addressing the market demand and we’re continuing to meet this by expanding in key university cities across the U.K. With its burgeoning student population and undersupply of student beds, Exeter was an obvious choice for our next target.”

Vita Student will be partnering with real estate agency Savills to host the exhibition at The Four Seasons Hotel, Grange Room, between 11am and 7pm this weekend – Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29.
