For a fifth consecutive year, City Developments Limited (CDL) has made the list in the Corporate Knights Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World.
The real estate developer is both the first and only Singapore company to be listed on the global benchmark since 2010.
Those who make the list are considered the top overall sustainability performers in their respective sector.
The rankings were announced on Wednesday and showed an improvement in CDL’s performance, climbing from 52nd position in 2012 to 39th place this year. Australia’s Westpac Bank currently holds top spot.
Ms Esther An, General Manager (Corporate Affairs) and Head (Corporate Social Responsibility) at CDL, said: “Being the only Singapore company to be listed on the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World for the 5th consecutive year affirms CDL’s long standing commitment to sustainable best practices. Since the mid-1990s, CDL has committed to the vision of conserving as we construct.”
CDL is also the first local firm to be recognised on two other global sustainability listings – the FTSE4Good Index Series and Dow Jones Sustainability Indices.
