Berkeley set for landmark launch

21 Jan 2014

Goodman’s Fields, Berkeley Group’s landmark development in Aldgate, London, will be showcasing its recently launched next collection of apartments, Meranti House.

Located in the U.K. capital’s premium neighbourhood, Goodman’s Fields will provide more than 920 homes, three new urban squares, a central piazza with new high-end shops, restaurants, bars and cafés and a new hotel with access to over two acres of parks and open spaces.

Meranti House (pictured) is a 20-storey tower comprising 107 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and one duplex penthouse with views overlooking the City and towards Canary Wharf.

Located in Zone 1 and within walking distance of the world’s leading financial district, which is home to more than 300,000 City professionals and at least 240 international banks, residents at Goodman’s Fields will live amongst some of London’s finest employment, cultural, dining and shopping opportunities.

Designed by award-winning architects Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, Goodman’s Fields was inspired by the towers of San Gimignano in Tuscany, Italy. The six slender towers are arranged around a central main piazza and naturally blend with the surrounding neighbourhoods creating a landmark for innovative architecture for everyone to aspire to live in.

The interiors at Meranti House have been designed by Scott Brownrigg, an awarding winning international design practice with six offices worldwide including Singapore. Established in 1910, Scott Brownrigg has worked at some of London’s most sought after addresses, creating relaxing and contemporary spaces with entertaining in mind. Using the finest materials and incorporating floor-to-ceiling glass windows creates a light and sophisticated backdrop for City living.

Each apartment at Meranti House includes a Poggenpohl kitchen with Siemens appliances, coffee machine and wine cooler as well as engineered oak flooring and under floor heating. Each bedroom is designed to offer comfort and practicality with fitted wardrobes complete with integrated sensor lighting and some include spacious dressing areas.

The emphasis at Goodman’s Fields is on luxury hotel-style living and fortunate residents will have access to a range of five-star resident only facilities, including a luxury health club with a heated indoor swimming pool and spa, a private cinema, a business lounge, a 24-hour concierge and a state-of-the-art gym overlooking the beautifully landscaped boulevard walkways.

The public space has been designed by acclaimed landscape architects Murdoch Wickham and will be adorned with public art and water features, producing an oasis in the heart of the Capital for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Piers Clanford, Managing Director at Berkeley Homes (North East London), told PropertyGuru: “We continue to see high levels of demand from city professionals working within the local area.

“Buyers are attracted to the area’s close proximity to the city and some of the capital’s most desirable neighbourhoods as well as the new level of residential living and facilities which is being introduced. The arrival of Crossrail in 2018 is enticing homeowners and investors and will make it a popular destination for rental tenants.”

Residents at Goodman’s Fields will be able to live amongst some of the Capital’s most fashionable areas such as Brick Lane, Shoreditch High Street and Spitalfields Market whilst popular art gallery the Whitechapel Gallery, Michelin-starred restaurants like Galvin La Chapelle and high-end shops like those at The Royal Exchange are also close by.

Goodman’s Fields is also conveniently placed for getting around London. Aldgate East and Aldgate Underground Stations are under two and five minutes’ walk, respectively, where St Pancras International can be reached in 14 minutes and Liverpool Street Station in less than five minutes.

The Docklands Light Railway at nearby Tower Gateway provides easy access to Canary Wharf in 13 minutes and City Airport in 25 minutes. There are also river bus services from Tower Millennium Pier reaching Canary Wharf Pier in nine minutes.  Residents at Goodman’s Fields will have access to the eagerly anticipated Crossrail, set to complete in 2018, which will provide fast train links from the west of London to the east of London via 37 stations including nearby Liverpool Street and Whitechapel.

First completions are scheduled for 2017, with prices starting from £549,500, and will all be announced at the Singapore property event which will take place in association with Jones Lang LaSalle Singapore from Friday, January 24 until Sunday, January 27, from 11am until 7pm at The Regent Hotel, Singapore in Boardroom II and III.
