Singapore’s love of overseas property investments shows no signs of stopping with opportunities from around the world being showcased in the city-state this weekend after a quiet few weeks over the festive period. Opportunities from the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan and Malaysia will be aiming to tempt local buyers at events this weekend.
Overseas property investments grew in popularity during 2013 as uncertainty surrounding the direction of the local property market weighed heavy on buyers’ minds.
Today (Saturday 11) and tomorrow (Sunday 12) will see the Singapore launch of the latest phase of Berkeley Homes’ One Tower Bridge development, Sandringham House. It will be showcased by Knight Frank Singapore at the Four Seasons Hotel between 11am and 7pm.
Prices for one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments with balconies start from £950,000.
This weekend also sees the ‘global launch’ of Glasshouse Gardens in Stratford, East London. The Lend Lease and LCR development, which is being marketed by Colliers International, takes place at The Regent Hotel between 11am and 7pm.
Located as part of London’s Olympic legacy and adjacent to Westfield, Europe’s largest urban shopping centre, the 330 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses are expected to be completed in 2017.
London is also the focus of Jones Lang LaSalle’s event at the Hilton Hotel, 11am – 7pm, which features Chiswick Point (pictured), a Bellway Homes 999-year leasehold development in W4.
Prices for the luxurious apartments start from £424,995.
Australia is well represented this weekend too, with Huttons representing STK, St Kilda’s tallest building which offers fine views of the city and Albert Park Lake.
The Melbourne property event takes place at M Hotel between 10am and 6pm.
Melbourne is also the focus of an event, hosted by Townshend Trafford Property, which features a range of freehold land, new homes and freehold offices.
The event takes place at Orchard Hotel from 11am until 7pm.
AAM Reality is also hosting a Melbourne property exhibition featuring Marco Melbourne, where Singapore buyers get the opportunity to learn about the project ahead of the Australian launch.
Podium apartments and tower apartments are priced from AUD$315,000, and the event takes place at Pan Pacific Hotel between 10am and 7pm.
Developer Far East Consortium, together with the MORE agency, is showcasing ‘one of the largest and most significant developments in Melbourne this weekend, with the event happening at Grand Copthorne Hotel between 11am and 7pm.
Prices for apartments start from AUD$295,190 and include a 6.5 percent gross one-year rental guarantee and furniture packages.
Japan is also on the radar for many Singapore property investors, and this weekend sees two separate exhibitions.
Developer Sumitomo Realty is showcasing its latest launch, The Grand Milennia Tower and Suite at Fullerton Hotel between 10am and 4.30pm.
Prices for one- to three-bedroom apartments start at S$616,700, with completion expected in just over one year from now.
ECG Property is also showcasing a Japanese property investment in the form of the freehold condominium Mita Minato.
The event, which takes place at the Hilton Hotel from 10am until 7pm, offers 5-year guaranteed rental returns and prices starting from S$418,000.
Neighbouring Malaysia is represented by Lexis Suites Penang, a KL Metro project being marketed by ERA.
The beachfront property offers 21 percent guaranteed returns and a 15-year rental programme. The exhibition takes place at the Marriott Hotel between 11am and 7pm.
Many Singapore property agencies focusing on overseas markets contacted by PropertyGuru expect a substantial increase in the number of overseas properties being showcased locally during the course of 2014.
