Five-year low for new private home sales

New private home sales for the month of December 2013 plunged almost 80 percent to just 259 units, revealed data published on Wednesday by the URA.

Including executive condominiums (ECs), 333 units were sold last month compared to the 1,714 units taken up in November 2013.

This is the lowest figure recorded in five years, according to preliminary research from PropertyGuru.

Meanwhile, only 118 private housing units were launched in December, a 95 percent decrease from the 2,172 units released previously.

The best-selling project in the month was the 146-unit Guillemard Suites in the east which sold 26 units at a median price of S$1,494 psf. This was followed by Forestville EC which moved 24 units at S$726 psf. Three projects, namely The Glades (S$1,477 psf), La Fiesta (S$1,197 psf) and SkyPark Residences EC (S$791 psf) sold 18 units each.  

The most expensive unit sold on a psf basis came from Boulevard Vue in Anguilla Park at S$3,700 psf, followed by an apartment at Clermont Residence in Tanjong Pagar that went for S$3,221 psf. Both developments are located in the Core Central Region (CCR).
