800,000 HDB households to get rebates of up to $65

About 800,000 Singaporean HDB households will receive $45 million worth of GST Voucher – Utilities-Save (U-Save) rebates this month.

Eligible households will each receive a GST Voucher – U-Save of up to $65, depending on their HDB flat type. For example, households in one and two room flats will receive a rebate of $65, while those in executive flats will receive an offset of $45 in October.

The regular GST Voucher – U-Save is given out over four payments each year. It is one component of the permanent GST Voucher scheme, designed to help Singaporean households with their living expenses.

In Budget 2014, a one-off GST Voucher – U-Save Special Payment was announced, with larger rebates for smaller flats. The first tranche of the Special Payment, was given out in July 2014, and the next tranche of the Special Payment will be made in January 2015, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement.

The Special Payment comes on top of the regular GST Voucher – U-Save.
