The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Academy will introduce a part-time Specialist Diploma programme in Construction Productivity, and an Advanced Certificate in Construction Productivity (ACCP) next year.
Programme participants will become specialists in construction productivity, with expertise and knowledge of the latest in construction trends, processes and technologies.
This is in line with the government’s move to improve construction productivity and reduce Singapore’s reliance on construction workers.
In his speech at the BCA Academy Graduation Ceremony 2014 on 14 November, Senior Minister of State Lee Yi Shyan said, “We hope to groom a pool of industry professionals well-versed with construction productivity technologies, such as the application of Virtual Design & Construction, Pre-fabricated and Pre-finished Volumetric Construction, and Cross Laminated Timber. This will transform the built environment sector towards higher productivity.”
A new full-time Diploma in Architecture course will also be available in April 2015. It will provide students with the fundamental knowledge and technical skills in architecture with an emphasis on Building Information Modelling (BIM), detailing and sustainable design. The curriculum for the programme and course will include experiential learning.
BCA CEO John Keung added programmes at the BCA Academy update industry practitioners on the latest trends, methods and practices of the industry from around the world and equip them with the relevant expertise.
