New RES exam syllabus starts this month

6 May 2014

Starting from May 2014, the Real Estate Salesperson (RES) examination will be conducted based on the revised syllabus.

The revised RES examination syllabus was rolled out by the Council for Estate Agencies (CEA) in January this year after it was reviewed. The review took feedback from the industry into consideration, and aims to raise the standard and relevance of the RES examination.

While there is no change to the scope of topics covered in the revised RES examination syllabus, it now enhances the salesperson’s practical knowledge with more detailed elaboration on the relevant topics.

Expected learning outcomes for each topic have been introduced in the revised syllabus and there are defined requirements of cognitive levels for each learning outcome.

The revised syllabus also includes updated rules, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to real estate agency practices.

With these changes, RES examination candidates and course providers will have a better understanding on how their knowledge will be tested for each topic.

The RES examination is the entry-level examination for new entrants who wish to practise as salespersons to ensure that they possess a basic level of competency and knowledge about the real estate agency industry and property related matters.

The RES examination is administered by CEA’s appointed examination administrator, NTUC Learning Hub.
