East Coast Park will have more open space and new amenities when Parkland Green and Marine Cove are completed in September 2014 and mid-2016 respectively.
National Parks Board (NParks) said in a statement the Gross Floor Area for Parkland Green is reduced by 25 percent and the lawn that was previously fenced up will be opened.
The new 1-hectare open lawn will allow for more recreational activities and other amenities at Parkland Green include a covered green roof walkway, which links the area with existing underpass from Marine Parade, and a garden-themed carpark.
Marine Cove, formerly the East Coast Recreation Centre, will also have more open park space, a playground, and dining and recreational facilities.
Kong Yit San, Assistant Chief Executive Officer of Park Management and Lifestyle Cluster at NParks said the enhancement projects are part of the statutory board’s continuous efforts to upgrade amenities and improve accessibility and connectivity within the park.
